Hawkeye’s ROCO Pipe and Joint Ring handling equipment automates the handling of concrete pipe and joint rings. The system is designed to be installed as an independent system for horizontally handling pipe sizes from 12” to 39” diameter. The system’s 45 to 60 second cycle time is designed to accommodate the quick clearing of kilns in which the pipe are manually tipped with a forklift truck and brought in multiples to the ROCO system.

Pallet and Header Removal Manipulator

Depalletizer mechanism automatically removes pallets from the cured pipe. The depalletizer engages the outer flange of the pallet as the product is secured at the joint ring removal station. The depalletizer exerts a pulling force and pneumatic tapping on the pallet until the pallet is removed.

Headers, if present, are simultaneously removed with the pallet. The header removal manipulator engages the lugs of the header and exerts a pulling force and pneumatic tapping on the header until the header is removed.

Joint Ring Cleaners

Cleaners use a combination of pulverizing, scraping, and brushing to clean all working surfaces of the joint ring. Cleaning operations are fully enclosed to ensure safe and clean operation. Units consist of dual hydraulic scrapers, pulverizing rollers, and multiple adjustable wire brushes. Cleaned rings are automatically ejected. Cleaners automatically adjust to different product diameters. Models are available to clean pallets and headers from 12” to 39”.

 Joint Ring Stackers

Removed joint rings are automatically stacked on carriers for storage or further production. Rings for Multiform production are stacked with the appropriate centers for direct use with the Multiform module or automatic feeding devices.

Debur Equipment

Automatically operated arms automatically adjust to the pipe diameter as the pipe is rotated to deburr the spigot and bell of the pipe. Deburring mechanisms are located at the bell and spigot end of the pipe for simultaneous deburring.

Vacuum Test Equipment

An inline vacuum tester automatically tests the pipe as it proceeds through the ROCO system. Testers are complete with an electrically powered rotary screw vacuum pump and reservoir tank. Horizontal testers include two bulkheads equipped close cell neoprene for sealing to the pipe ends. Vacuum is drawn to a preset value and held for a preset time. Pressure is monitored during the test cycle. If the product passes the vacuum test, the bulkhead automatically release. If the product does not pass, an alarm sounds. Models are available for testing concrete pipe in diameter up to 39”.

Marking Equipment

Products are marked horizontally on the outside or inside of the product. The marking equipment is complete with a structure to support and guide the printing device, a linear actuator, and a 32 valve, one-color ink jet printer with a five gallon ink supply with a low ink warning indicator. The marking equipment automatically actuates when the product enters the marking station. The marking device is able to print a wide range of figures and letters ranging in heights from 1” to 2”. The printer is integrated to an operator’s interface so that all pipes can be marked with a production reference, date, manufacturer’s code or logo. Additionally, the printer can be integrated with the vacuum test station to indicate a passed vacuum test.

Product Outfeed Equipment
