  • Hawkeye canopy kilns provide an efficient, organized system for curing concrete pipe and manholes. The kiln units store tight against the wall during the production day and quickly extend over the products for curing.
  • To extend the canopy units over the products for curing, the wall-mounted storage arms are extended so the overhead crane can be hooked to the kiln’s front strongback beam. (Retractable storage arms are used so the kiln can be stored tighter to the wall than possible with a crane’s standard hook-to-wall approach.) The overhead crane is then used to lift and attach the strongback beam to the front support posts.
  • The canopies completely cover the products during curing. The strongback beam supports the front of the kiln and a counterbalance mechanism tensions the top of the kiln to prevent sagging. A hem is provided at the bottom of the kiln sides for the insertion of a chain for a tight floor seal. Several back wall mounting styles are available to accept different fogging and steaming systems. Canopy units are individually sized to meet building and product requirements.
  • To store the kiln, an overhead crane is used to lift the kiln’s front strongback beam from the floor support posts and to place it in the wall-mounted storage arms. A counterbalance automatically lifts and returns the curtain against the wall as the strongback beam is being moved toward the wall supports to prevent the curtain from dragging across the top of the concrete products. After the strongback beam is placed in the storage arms, they are retracted against the wall to compactly store the canopy unit tightly against the wall, The two front support posts are then lifted from their floor sockets and stored.
