Hawkeye’s Institute of Technology, located at our headquarters in Mediapolis, IA, offers the following courses for users of Hawkeye equipment. Led by trained and experienced instructors, attendees will gain valuable knowledge to maximize the effectiveness and profitability of their plants. To register or for more details, contact Tom Umek, Hawkeye’s Manager of Customer Service.
Machine Mechanical Maintenance
This session is designed to create a clear understanding of what it takes to keep equipment in good operating order so as to minimize down time. This course is a must for maintenance personnel and production managers that want to reach elite and consistent production levels. This course is offered two ways, for PipePlus users and PipePro users, recognizing the difference in automation.
MBK Cage Machines
In this session, students learn how to properly operate and maintain the MBK Cage Machine. To permit training in actual field conditions, this course will be held off site at a concrete pipe manufacturing facility.
Form Maintenance
Those responsible for the maintenance on form equipment will discover the correct methods to keep their form equipment running at peak performance. This course covers the inspection of the form, trouble-shooting vibrators, and how to correctly rebuild a form to extend its life. Our instructors will demonstrate these techniques on an actual form set in a shop environment.
Controls & Technical Operation
The goal of this session is to educate a skilled operator, maintenance person, or manager about the function of automated systems and how to navigate through and maintain them. Emphasis is placed on empowering the student with the terminology and concepts that will enable them to effectively communicate with support personnel during trouble-shooting. It includes hydraulics and pneumatics, as well as electronics.
Pipemaster Pipe Unloader
The correct and safe use Pipemaster unloaders will be the emphasis of this course. Proper unloading and safety techniques will be discussed. Our students have found that the life expectancy of their unloaders can be dramatically increased by following the guidelines presented in this session.
Pipe Production Methods
In this session students will learn the correct methods of maximizing the efficiency of their plants. Topics covered include proper scheduling and placement of employees, dry cast concrete production fundamentals and additives. Individual attendee questions specific to their operation as well as other issues that affect quality and productivity will be openly discussed. If you make production decisions, this is for you.
VROC & ROCO Maintenance
For our customers that have the automated ring removal and cleaning systems, this course will clarify the maintenance and operation requirements. Learning the terminology and functions of the automated parts makes the management of the systems much easier to understand.
Plant Management
New for this year, we have added a course for the upper level Managers and Owners. This course is designed to help develop leadership as well as teaching the tools needed to run a successful Hawkeye operation. Efficiency, staffing, setting up a maintenance program, keys to a successful operation and how to recognize key people will benefit any manager.
Registration fees include a course manual, a Hawkeye Institute of Technology jacket, and lunches. Hotel rooms at special rates are available 15 miles away in Burlington, IA. A registration form will be provided with details for enrollment and hotel accommodations.
